Ghanaian’s foreign Minister and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has appealed to the Nigerian government to allow easy passage of goods from Ghana into Nigeria.
She made the request during a meeting with the Nigeria’s High Commission to Ghana, Olufemi Michael Abikoye where she highlighted the challenges faced by the Ghanaian economy as a result of the closure.
Botchwey lamented truckloads of goods from Ghana that have been detained at the Seme border for weeks revealing that traders have lost so much within the last few weeks.
She advocates a mutual trade understanding between the two countries with an assurance of fidelity and mutual interest
The Nigerian High Commissioner , Olufemi Abikoye assured of the readiness of the Nigerian government to finding lasting solution to the challenge.
The Ghanian government is hopeful that the meeting will yield a positive result.
This Federal Government recently closed the Nigerian borders in order to curb the illegal entry of banned items, strengthen the nation’s security and protect the economic interest of the country.
