The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress Yahaya Bello has been declared winner of Kogi Governorship election, having scored the highest number of votes in the keenly contested poll.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Umar, made the annoucement after collation of results from the 21 local government in the state.
The incubent governor won in 12 local governments to beat his closest rival Musa Wada of People’s Democratic Party who won in 9 local governments.
In summation, Bello polled 406,222 votes, while Wada polled 189,704. The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Natasha Akpoti polled 9482 votes to come third.
