SOCIAL MEDIA REGULATION BILL SCALES SECOND READING

The bill for an Act to provide for protection from internet falsehood and manipulations and related matters has passed its second reading.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, put into voice vote the passage of a second reading after confirming that no senator was ready to speak against it.

Most of the senators vote unanimously as the bill was read a second time.

The anti Social media bill was sponsored by the Senator Sani Musa representing Niger East District.

The bill seeks to regulate social media usage in Nigeria.

A wide section of the public have made condemnation remarks since its introduction on the floor of the Senate.
