The federal government said the lockdown that lasted for about two months was eased to prevent the economy from collapsing.
The coordinator of the presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 , Dr. Sani Aliyu , stated this during Thursday’s daily briefing in Abuja.
He emphasized that Nigeria is still in the middle of the spread of coronavirus.
‘We relaxed the lockdown not because COVID-19 has gone but to ensure the economy does not collapse’
He said, government will not sit back and allow public safety to be endangered by a few people, as he expressed worry over the high number of Covid-19 confirmed cases which is 17, 735 as at 17th June 2020 and urged everyone to adhere to precautionary measures in other to stop the spread of the virus.
