
The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State command has released two children of the former presidential candidate of the annulled June 12, 1993 elections, Chief Moshood Abiola.
The children, Kassim and Aliyu who spent 13 days at a Special Anti-Robbery Squad detention in Ikeja were arrested over a robbery incident that occurred in their late father’s home on September 2.
The police unit which held the children for more than the constitutional 48 -hour detention period for suspects, claimed that a complaint was filed by their step-mum, Adebisi Abiola who said the children were uncouth during police interrogation.
Kassim and Aliyu decried the abuse of their fundamental rights at a high court in Ikeja and filed a N100m suit against the police over their arrest and detention.
The first daughter of the late business mogul , Lola Abiola-Edewor, signed an undertaking with the police seeking the release on bail of her two brothers and their internal staff.
