
The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party , Godwin Obaseki, has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial election in Edo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The final result was disclosed by INEC’s returning officer, Akpofure Rim-Rukeh who said APC recorded 223,619 votes while PDP polled 307,955 votes.
The incumbent Governor , Obaseki, ran against APC’s candidate Osagie Ize-Iyamu and 13 others.
Obaseki became Governor of Edo State under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress in 2016 but defected to the PDP after internal dissension in the party.
