
A commissioner with the Ebonyi State government, Engr Fidelis Nweze is dead.He died in Turkish Hospital Abuja.
The Commissioner for Housing, Uche Okah also died last month in Abuja where she was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
June 23rd has been declared a public holiday by the Ebonyi state Governor, Engineer David Nweze Umahi to honour the departed souls.
Until their death, Engineer Fidelis Nweze, was the former Commissioner for Infrastructure for Concession while Engineer Uche Okah, was the former Commissioner for Housing.
The Governor described the two events in a space of one month as “very sad news for the Ebonyi state government”.
“It is so shocking and unbelievable to announce the death of our Commissioner for Infrastructure, Engineer Kings Fidelis Nweze who died this morning at about 9:50 am at Turkish Hospital, Abuja. Nweze was traveling to Enugu on Saturday at about 7 pm with his orderly and Driver within Obinagu in Enugu State, they rammed into a stationary truck. He was on a seat belt, the Driver was conscious, they were all conscious” he disclosed.
With the unfolding event, Governor Umahi has directed all markets and offices be shut down to honour the departed souls, while all flags are to fly at half-mast on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021.
To avert the turbulence in the state, the Governor asked public officials to go on a fast seeking the face of God while admonishing the Christian Association of Nigeria to pray for the state and to break the fast at the Christian Ecumenical Centre every day till Saturday.
