The Yoruba nation’s rally at Ojota LAGOS which was meant to be a peaceful protest has resulted in the death of a passerby struck by a stray bullet.
The police reportedly opened fire into the air and teargas shots to clamp the activities of the members who were seen singing and chanting.
At the scene, sympathizers gathered over the lifeless body of the unknown girl
“She didn’t go outside. It was stray bullet from the protest that killed her”, some persons in the video said in vernacular.
Yoruba Nation protesters had taken to the streets of Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos, where the rally was scheduled to hold.
The State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, allowed the protesters to go on with their activity, while ensuring that hoodlums do not hijack the protest.
However, reports of security operatives dispersing crowds with teargas and water had already begun making rounds on social media
