Supporters of the Yoruba nation activist , Sunday Igboho , have hit the streets of Ibadan over the attack on his home by the Department of State Services.
Protesters converged on the activist’s home in Sooka, Ibadan before they stormed the streets on Wednesday afternoon.
One of the protesters told the crowd that the demonstration will be orderly and peaceful as they take the protest to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji; and from there proceed to the Government House, amongst other places.
He said , “It is a peaceful demonstration; we are marching there to demand the release of the detained persons. We are not afraid of teargas, we are marching to demand the rights of our people.
“We want them to bring the killers of Adogan and Alfa to book.
The protesters also demanded the payment of N500m for damages by the government as requested by Igboho’s lawyer for the destruction of his house and property during the invasion.
Recall that the DSS invaded Sunday Igboho’s house in Ibadan on Thursday midnight over allegations of building an armoury for nefarious purposes , the attack left 2 of Igboho’s men dead and 13 captured and paraded.
Igboho who escaped the attack and has since been declared wanted denied the allegations.
The invasion has received wide condemnation while Governors in the south also declared that they must be briefed before such attacks can occur in their respective territories.
