Nigerian musical icon, rapper and songwriter, Lanre Fasasi famously known as Sound Sultan, has passed away at the age of 44 after a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.
He is survived by his wife, three children and siblings.
His demise comes as a painful shock to the entertainment industry as his colleagues have taken to social media to mourn the music legend.
Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti who dropped a comment on the last post shared on Instagram by the deceased said, “I am shocked and very SAD reading this news ( in the daily punch newspaper)of the passing of Sound Sultan (HE IS FAMILY) I pray our Creator to give his family strength at this time.”
Efe Omorogbe, the manager of singer 2baba said, “Rest in glory my brother @soundsultan. You’ll live forever in our hearts. Allah gives.”
According to reports, the singer was diagnosed with throat cancer earlier in the year and was receiving treatment in the United States of America.
He reacted to the report via his instagram handle saying “Eid Mubarak to my lovely Muslim brothers and sisters. May Almighty Allah accept our fast as an act of Ibadah.
“Instagram! This is not the one with ram. I must not ignore the massive show of love. Thank you all. I will tell you my story myself it will be true THEN not false.”
