BANDITRY OPERATIONS:13 POLICEMEN DIE IN ZAMFARAATTACK

Thirteen police officers have been killed by bandits during a shootout in the early hours of Sunday , according to the Zamfara State Police Command.

The spokesman of the State Police Command , Mohammed Shehu , said the policemen were deployed to Kurar Mota village in Bungudu LGA after receiving frantic calls from the communities in respect to an attempted attack by gunmen.

Shehu, who assured of the command’s commitment to crushing banditry operations disclosed that an intensive search has begun to fish out the criminals involved in the attack .

He said, “the attack occurred on Sunday at about 1230hrs when Police Mobile operatives deployed at Kurar Mota village in Bungudu LGA were responding to a distress call with regards to an attempt by bandits to attack some nearby communities.

“The personnel who ran into the ambush exhibited resilience and gallantry by engaging the hoodlums, an effort that deterred the bandits from attacking the communities.

Unfortunately, 13 personnel paid the supreme price. However, the bandits on their part suffered heavy casualties.

The Commissioner of Police CP Hussaini Rabiu, who paid a visit to the injured police operatives at the hospital declared that the command will not be deterred by the tragedy and will always protect lives and properties of citizens.
