The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed the crash of an Alpha jet that occurred on Sunday.
Director of Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet made this know in a press release on Monday.
According to him, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft, returning from a successful air interdiction mission on July 18 between the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna State, came under intense enemy attack which led to its crash in Zamfara State.
He said, the NAF Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance air support has been provided to NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops who were able to locate the crash site .
Reacting to the incident, Pilot of the aircraft , Flight Lieutenant Dairo said
he successfully ejected from the aircraft using his survival instincts adding that the
presence of NAF aircraft within the vicinity of the crash site helped to scare the bandits who were after him.
