The popular agitator for the Yoruba nation, Sunday Adeyemo, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
According to a top source, Igboho was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night.
He had earlier been declared wanted by the Department of State Services for alleged stockpiling Arms, before his arrested by security personnels
Igboho will now have to face trial as efforts are on to bring him back to Nigeria from the Benin Republic.
“He was arrested in Cotonou while he tried to travel out on Monday night. His destination was Germany. The security forces in Benin Republic should repatriate him to Nigeria on Tuesday,” the source said.
On July 1st, 2021, two of Igboho aids were killed in an attack that happened in his Ibadan residence (Soka), a mission carried out by the Nigeria secret police
The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service have been tracking Igboho’s whereabouts following the Federal Government directive.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, one of the lawyers representing Igboho disclosed that she would speak with another colleague before giving her position on the matter, while the representatives of the DSS refuse to comment on the matter as effort to get across to him through text proved abortive.
Afunanya, at a briefing on July 1, 2021, had vowed that “Igboho may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants…But this will be the end of his shenanigans.”
