A three-month-old baby and 12 adults have been killed by bandits in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Gunmen opened fire on travellers on Uikpam – Umenger road around 3 pm on Tuesday, killing five people, including the infant while the remaining eight people were allegedly killed at Ude at 10 pm on the same day.
The Chairman of Guma LGA, Caleb Aba, confirmed the incident. According to him, 5 victims were coming from a burial ceremony at Torkula when they were attacked.
He said another attack took place at Branch Ude where about eight people were killed, bringing the total number of people reportedly killed to 13.
Two people were injured and are now receiving treatment in the hospital.
The police spokesperson in the area, DSP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive reports about the incident.
