The Supreme Court has upheld the outcome of the ondo state governorship election where Romti Akeredolu emerged victorious.
This comes after the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Eyitayo Jegede, appealed the outcome of the election which was held on October 10, 2020.
The results of the election was upheld by a majority on the basis that the appeal by the PDP was not sustainable because the appellants did not include Yobe State Governor and chairman caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Mai Mala Buni, as party in the suit.
The majority decision agreed with the decision of the tribunal that the failure of the appellants to include Buni destroyed their case .
On the other hand, the minority judgment led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili, held that since APC was the principal and was made a party,it was not a necessity to include Buni in the suit.
