The federal government has announced the commencement of the distribution of the second batch of covid-19 vaccines come August 16.
According to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, the distribution of the vaccines will help combat the third wave of Covid-19.
The health ministry said this at the weekly ministerial briefing on the update of COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja.
He noted that the intervention will assist in fighting the challenges of the Delta variant stressing that the variant is highly contagious.
He said the country is planning on reducing the Covid-19 variants in the country . Ehanire added that the Federal Government had approved six vaccines which are Gamaleya, Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, AstraZeneca and Covishield.
He further stressed that only eligible populations from 18 and above would be vaccinated.
