NIGER STATE SUSPENDS CATTLE MARKETS, RESTRICTS MOVEMENT OF MOTORCYCLES.

Effective from September 1, 2021, the Niger state government has placed indefinite suspension on all cattle markets across the state as part of measures to stop the prevalence of armed banditry and kidnapping.

A statement released on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, states that all vehicles used for cattle transportation must show means of identity and waybill permitting them to transport the animals showing where the cattles were purchased and where they’re headed.

Ahmed disclosed that no one must be caught buying petroleum products in Jerry cans or any other containers at the filling stations, adding that the ban also affects all operation of trucks carrying firewoods and timber, while restricting motorcycles within Minna and environs to shuttle only between 6am and 6 pm daily.
