Oyo State High Court has ordered the Federal Government to pay N20bn as damages to popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo for invading his Soka residence, Ibadan on July 1, 2021.
It was alleged that the DSS encroached on his fundamental rights, recovering several arms, bloody charms, and various communications devices at the crime scene which resulted in a shootout between Igboho’s security men and operatives of the DSS.
The presiding judge, Justice Ladiran Akintola said the 20bn compensation must be paid to Adeymo also known as Sunday Igboho, against the 500bn lawsuits filed by his lawyers. He noted that the verdict will serve as exemplary and aggravated damages against the secret police.
Igboho through his lawyers had established at the court that the DSS tried to frame him up for a crime he knows nothing about, adding that he’ll rather protect himself with traditional arms as against the use of guns and ammunition.
