An auto-crash along Bauchi-Kano road has claimed the lives of 20 passengers ,all burning to death .
The collision occurred between two commercial buses on Tuesday at Huturu village.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the crash , added that it was caused by reckless speeding on the part of the drivers.
The statement made available to journalists in Bauchi, by Abdullahi , disclosed that 21 persons were in the two commercial vehicles, while 20 were killed and the driver of one of the vehicles survived the crash.
According to the statement , a Volkswagen Golf 3, with registration number SHD-184YU, had a head-on collision with a Sharon minibus conveying passengers and goods.
Eleven males, five females, one male child and three female children were burnt to ashes in the accident according to Abdullahi , adding that the surviving driver was taken to the Kafin Madaki Hospital.
He appealed to motorists to be more careful on the roads and abide by traffic rules and laws.
“This incident is so sad and pathetic. Look at how 20 people lost their lives in this crash due to the recklessness of drivers.
”I wish to call on all motorists to be very careful and vigilant while on the road.
“They should observe all road traffic rules and regulations as well as road traffic signs that are on the road. By doing so, we will have a reduction in crashes that often lead to loss of lives and properties,” he admonished.
