A petrol tanker has exploded at Ajegunle Bus Stop, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Lagos.
The incident, which occurred on Friday claimed one life and destroyed at least three vehicles.
The tanker reportedly overturned while attempting to enter a filling station by the expressway and spilled its contents.
According to the Southwest Coordinator of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye , the sole fatality is a 15-year-old, Oluwatobi Lawal, who was preparing for his WAEC and JAMB examinations.
According to the Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Margeret Adeseye, the report was received at 2:16 a.m., about a tanker meant to service Ayinde Oil filling station at Ajegunle.
The tanker accidentally spilled its 45,000 liters PMS content.
Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Agbado Unit Commander, Joseph Akinsanya revealed that the fire also destroyed ten shops.
According to him, FRSC personnel and other sister agencies carried out the rescue operation and extinguished the fire.
