A three-story building has collapsed at Ibadan street in the Ebutte Meta area of Lagos state.
The incident occurred at about 10:56 pm on Sunday.
Operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) ,two victims have been confirmed dead while 23 persons have been rescued from the building.
The zonal coordinator of NEMA, south-west, Ibrahim Farinloye disclosed that the recovered bodies were those of a mother and her child, while the rescued persons include seven children and 16 adults.
He added that rescued persons have been taken away for proper custody, while psycho-social and post-trauma care and counselling are being arranged for them by the Nigerian Red Cross.
The building collapse is coming in after a three storey building also collapsed at Onike, Yaba, about 2 months ago.
