BE CIVIL IN  YOUR CAMPAIGN, APC S/W ELDERS TO PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS.

The APC South West Elders Forum has frowned at the name callings and other personal attacks by Aspirants and their supporters on one another in the region.

The Elders had met with presidential, gubernatorial and National Assembly aspirants from the zone to  put an end to unnecessary rivalry.

The meeting ended on a friendly note as aspirants were encouraged to test their popularity at the primary level.

According to an inside source, “the issue of betrayal was put to rest as the elders affirmed that everyone who desires to run for any political office whatsoever is not encumbered in any way at all.” After which the leaders and the aspirants reached a resolution  to conduct a rancour free campaign.

The meeting had been convened by the first Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande and a former Governor of Ogun state, Chief Segun Osoba, both of whom served as Co-Conveners

In attendance at the Close door meeting were the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Also at the meeting, apart from the aspirants were the former Governor of Lagos State and Works and Housing Minister,  Babatunde Fashola, Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Femi Gbajabiamila, Niyi Adebayo, Governors Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state and Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state. Others included former Osun State Governor and Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola and the APC National Secretary,  Iyiola Omisore.

The Vice President being the highest ranking public officer from South West region was commended for a job well done.

Sources confirmed that Apc elders affirmed their position that all aspirants had the right to aspire to be president, however all aspirants were enjoined to exhibit the  ‘Omoluabi’ in their politicking by shunning divisive rhetorics.

The Elders Forum stated categorically that the consultations with them would be continuous, while stressing the need to queue behind whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, stating that the cohesion of the South West must be sacrosanct.

They concluded that the party’s decision remains final.
