
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, has granted Senator Rochas Okorocha, bail in the sum of N500 million with one surety in like sum.
The presiding judge , Justice Inyang Ekwo , said the surety must be a property owner in the court’s jurisdiction and submit the Certificate of Occupancy of the verified property with the registry of the court.
The judge also ruled that the senator must hand over his international passport to the registry of the court , ordering him not to leave the country except with the permission of the court.
Okorocha’s co-defendant, Anyim Chinenye, was also granted bail in the same terms of the administrative bail earlier granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The judge adjourned the matter until November 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 for trial.
The lawmaker, who was the first defendant, was arraigned alongside Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited as second to seventh defendants respectively.
The senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, was picked up by the EFCC a week ago over allegations of misappropriating funds to the tune of N2.9 billion while serving as Governor of the state.
