One of the priests at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State that was viciously attacked on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Father Andrew Abayomi, has described how the attack took place.
In an interview with newsmen , he disclosed that the gunmen unleashed terror as the day’s service was about to end , adding that some members had already left when they started hearing gunshots.
He further stated that they locked themselves inside the church for 20 minutes , and opened the church when they left.
“We hid inside the church but some people had left when the attack happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital.”
The attack which led to nearly 50 deaths and numerous injuries has been widely condemned across the nation.
