ASUU STRIKE: NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS HOLDS NATIONWIDE PROTEST

The Nigeria Labour Congress have protested the continued faceoff between Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The members in solidarity with ASUU over the lingering strike held protests in strategic places across the country.

In Lagos, the state chapter  arrived at the Ikeja Under Bridge and marched peacefully to the Lagos State Governor’s office.

Members of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Educational Institutions, Nigerian Union of Teachers, and other affiliate unions of NLC were at the protest

It would be recalled that ASUU embarked on  strike on February 14, after the Federal Government failed to implement the 2009 ASUU/FG Agreement on modalities to fund the country’s public university education.

The demands raised by ASUU include release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution platform for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers.
