The mourning wife disclosed that her husband was a graduate of Yabatech ,a sound engineer  and regularly works with churches in Lekki  during the day and works with a band called legacy 360 band in the evening.

She told correspondents on Monday: “The last time I saw my husband was on 10th of May, My husband left for work on Tuesday morning, we parted at the bus stop and I came back to my parents place because I had to pick the children from school.

“Then on Wednesday, we spoke. Being a sound engineer he works with one of our churches in Lekki, Church of God Mission Garden City Lekki during the day. He also works with a band called legacy 360 band in the evening.

“Whenever he goes for a show, he sends me the location. Due to the programme I went for in my dad’s church at Ajao estate, we couldn’t speak but he sent me his location.

“So when I got home at night, I was calling him but I couldn’t get through to him. I felt he had a flat battery. Tll I slept, he didn’t call. On Friday morning, I called again and it didn’t go through.

“While going back to my dad’s church, I informed my siblings, I was worried. So I felt he was resting and besides he comes only on Sunday and leaves on Tuesday.

“It was on Friday afternoon around past three that I was called that I lost my husband. My elder brother and husband’s brother went to Maroko police station and the police told them my husband had a confrontation with one of the “Aboki” motorcyclists and my husband was stabbed and burnt as well because of a change of N100.

“I was told that one of them pushed the Aboki and the Aboki fell and pretended that he was dead. Before you knew it, a fight broke out and my husband was stabbed.

“It was later on Sunday evening that I saw some reactions on Twitter and lady who is part of the band was the one who narrated that my husband was not part of those who mounted the bike. He was inside setting up at the venue of the show, which was Thursday, 12th of May.

“Two guys (band members) took the bike and when they arrived at the venue, an argument happened between two of the guys and the Aboki.

“They gave the motorcyclist N500 and were to get a change of N100 but the bike man said he didn’t have change. They told him to take N300 but he refused and fight broke out.

“My husband was called. So, he went out to try and settled the issue. David is an helper, anyone who knows him can testify that David is a kind person.

“He came outside trying to intervene but when they saw that the motorcyclists were overpowering them, they had to run back inside the bar but the bar manager pushed them out. People were now shouting that they were ritualists and Yahoo boys.

“They subsequently beat and lynched them. All because he wanted to help settle a dispute. They have taken away my world. They have shattered it. Please Lagos Government, Governor Sanwo-Olu help me, I cry for justice and for the welfare of my children. Please come to my rescue.

“I’m a senior technical officer, level 9, at Ijede council at Works and Infrastructure department. I’m at my parents place. I’m helpless. I just rounded up my PGD progamme at FUTA.”

The deceased was described  by close friends and family as easy going , kind and generous.

Concerned friends and family have  also called on the State Government to intervene and stem the menace of Okada riders in Lagos.

JONATHAN IN HIDE AND SEEK STRATEGY

After rejecting the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms purchased by coalition of Northern groups, Former President Goodluck Jonathan has finally decided to join the presidential contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Jonathan, who had dissociated himself from the Northern group, had described their action as an insult.

However, credible source close to the former President disclosed that he has not only joined the APC formally at his Otuoke ward in Bayelsa, he will also contest for the number one office in the country on the platform of the ruling party.

It is uncontestable fact that politicians, especially in Nigeria, have no modicum of truth. They act shamefully at will without conscience. Or how do we explain the fact that Jonathan who was abused and maligned by the APC will be contesting under the same political party?

Nigerians attaching too much moral value to politicians and expecting political leaders to be truthful is like asking them to give what they don’t have. They are more concerned with their own selfish interests and ambitions than the People’s plight.

From all indications, Jonathan was looking for a consensus ticket, since he does not possess the financial resources to compete in the primaries. His recent maneuvering, especially meetings with the APC national chairman and the Northern groups are testaments of his intentions, yet some Nigerians fell for his trick.

It is obvious no politician is a saviour. We should endeavour to strengthen our institutions. Relying heavily on the false credibility of politicians will do more harm than good. Nigerians should not be deceived by their pretentious and deceptive ways that have brought nation to where it is.

Jonathan should have been straightforward to express his presidential ambition from inception, since he has the constitutional right to contest. There was no need for the games. No need to meander.

Another source has it that the cabal at the presidency wanted Jonathan. This is because he is expected to spend a term of four years, having served previously as president between 2010 and 2015.

MIXED REACTIONS TRAIL THE MURDER  OF DEBORAH SAMUEL

An angry mob of protesters recently burnt up a level 2 student at the Shehu Shagari college of education, Sokoto , Deborah Samuel, due to claims of  blasphemy against the holy prophet Muhammed.

Following this development, several notable Nigerians have reacted to the incident.

The sultan of Sokoto in a statement released by the Sultanate council condemned the incident in its totality, and further urged residents to stay calm and ensure peaceful co-existence amongst all.

Popular Nigerian politician, Adamu Garba said just like no christian will take respect for Jesus lightly, so also no Muslim will tolerate denigrating prophet Mohammed, referring to any such against the prophet Mohammed as a red line that can not be compromised

The Grand Mufti of Conference of Islamic Organizations, (CIO), Sheik Dikrullah Shafi’I , has described the conduct  of the students who killed Deborah Samuel as unlawful, inhuman and that it does not in any way represent the position of Islam, while he established that “Islam places huge value on human soul”

Former Inspector General of Police’s son, and son-in-law to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Jamil Abubakar, from his viewpoint, said that blasphemy is frowned on by all religions. He emphasised  that the punishment for blasphemy is death,  adding that people should respect others religion.

The vice president of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo on his part, described the incident as  “deeply distressing and very unfortunate”. He then referred to the President and the Sultan of Sokoto as having condemned the act respectively, stressing that there is no justification for extrajudicial killings, seeing there are legal channels to address any misdeed.

A personal assistant to the Sokoto Finance Commissioner, Anas Mohammed Sani, claimed that the victim, Ms. Samuel was murdered in cold blood because she was careless with her words. In his statement, “if anyone will repeat it tomorrow, the probability of being served same meal is 99.9%”

The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, R.C.C.G, Enoch Adeboye, in his own words, claimed “religion is not the problem of Nigeria”, he further explained that when the Kaduna-Abuja train attack occurred, Christians were not separated from Muslims to be killed, nor did the bullets distinguish one from the other. So he concluded that the killing of the female student had nothing to do with religion, in his own opinion.

The self styled Imam of Peace, an Australian Shia Muslim influencer, popularly known as “Imam of peace” took to his official twitter handle, and contributed that Prophet Mohammed never killed anyone for insulting him or even throwing rocks at him.

According to the Australian muslim influencer, Mohammed’s neighbor used to pile garbage at his doorstep daily, and one day when there was no garbage, and he found out that she was ill, he went visiting her, and wished her well. He made this comment via his Twitter handle @Imam of peace, with #DEBORAH following his comments.

He went ahead to praise the sultan of Sokoto for what he referred to as his “wisdom and swift condemnation”

The British government joined the calls on the government of Nigeria to bring the perpetrators to justice as President Muhammed Buhari ordered a probe into the incident.

Recall that, according to reports,  two suspects have since been arrested, over the killing of their female colleague, Deborah Samuel, in Sokoto
